Many people do not know that they can be charged with aiding and abetting just by being present at the crime and committing any overt act that in any way aid, abets, or conspires with an individual who commits the crime. Some common examples include:
1. If person A drove person B to a house to rob it. Person B goes in robs the house, and kills a bystander in the process. Person A, who was merely the driver, is equally responsible as person B.
2. The driver of a vehicle in a drive-by shooting. The driver says, "that's the guy!" The shooter then shoots the individual. Both individuals could be charged with murder.
